Strasburg Baseball Cards – Outrageous Prices

There was a recent post on the Tuff Stuff website about phenom and upcoming number 1 draft pick Stephen Strasburg.  This guy’s collegiate stats are sick.  Check ‘em out in the Tuff Stuff post.  Sick.

BUT……$225 for one of his baseball cards?  He’s not even drafted yet.  Doesn’t even have a team, hasn’t even thrown a pitch in the major leagues.  Granted, the card is a serial numbered autographed black leather Sweet Spot card.  Still.  Hasn’t yet pitched and isn’t on a team.

I mean, the guys is PROBABLY going to be phenomenal.  Could be the next Tom Seaver.  But come on with the $225 card value already.

Checking recently completed sales for Strasburg cards on eBay, I found that a 2008 Upper Deck USA Team Jersey card sold for $100.  That’s ridiculous too.

For less than the price that USA Team Jersey card sold for on eBay,  you could have won both this 2005 UD Tom Seaver Jersey Autographed Serial Numbered to 15 card:

and this 1998 Donruss Nolan Ryan Significant Signatures serial numbered to 2000 card:

on eBay.  That’s two Hall of Fame, fully accomplished pitchers, who many would argue are two of the top ten Major League Pitchers ever.

Don’t get me wrong here.  I hope Strasburg has an MLB career which matches or surpasses Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver.  But he hasn’t even been drafted yet.  Let’s get a grip here folks.
