To give my readers a better idea of what is being talked about in our hobby, I am going to link some of the more interesting recent baseball card forum threads, along with my own commentary.
Over at Sports Card Freaks, there has been discussion about the quality of recent Upper Deck replacement cards. Although UD may have gotten somewhat of a bad rap in the past for their card replacement efforts, it seems that lately collectors are quite pleased with what Upper Deck has been giving them, when the original cards expected couldn’t be delivered.
There is talk over at Blowout Cards Forum about Jason Heyward possibly having serious competition for the NL ROY. It’s early, real early, but I just don’t forsee anyone overtaking Heyward for NL ROY if he continues to produce as he has been. Certainly doesn’t seem like a rookie to me. More like a veteran All-Star.
Over at Trader Retreat, I learned a key piece of hobby info, when they mentioned that 2010 Topps 206 promotion material seems to have an acknowledged error. See the post to find out what that error is.
For you vintage baseball card collectors, there is an interesting post over at the Full Count Vintage Baseball Card Forum, asking about the condition of E107s. There is also a theory espoused, and a good one I might say, about why E series cards are generally found in worse condition overall than T series cards.
If these “overheard in the sports card forum” posts get decent page views, presumably meaning there is interest in them, I’ll try to make them a regular post theme on the blog.
Thanks for reading.

I know he didn’t get hyped as much as Heyward and pitches in Cincinnati, but you could argue Mike Leake as a ROY candidate as well, especially since he played no minor league ball at all. The kid so far has been the ace of the staff.
Leake has looked good, going 3-0 as a rookie, to-date, for the Reds. Heyward, at 20 years old, hitting 8 homers in 86 at-bats is phenomenal however. It will be interesting to watch how each of these young players progresses in the NL this year.
