A Snickers Bar or Jose Canseco Rookie?

So, my wife went out to the supermarket yesterday.  She mentioned she picked up a little gift for me.  There was a vending machine at the supermarket, and it had baseball cards in it.  So she put in a few dollars and picked up some cards for me.  The first was a 2006 Topps Albert Pujols numbered 6 of 10.  It has an insignia for the National Baseball Card Day on it.  Have you seen these cards before?  It came already enclosed, and in mint condition, in a hard plastic four screw case.  Very cool.

Next gift was a pack of 1987 Topps.  Before I opened the pack, I checked to make sure the gum was still in there.  Why?  I don’t know.  I was just interested.  It was there.  As was, sitting right on top, a Jose Canseco regular issue rookie card.  (His first Topps card is a 1986 Topps traded card.)   Man, what I would have given for that card twenty years ago.  Who would have thought, back when Canseco was becoming baseball’s first 40-40 man, that you couldn’t get a dollar for this card? Still, it was pretty cool to pull from that pack.  And now that particular card has sentimental value for me.

87 Topps Canseco

Better than the cards themselves, was the fact that my wife picked these cards up for me from a vending machine.  Pretty cool.
