Free Baseball Card (Potential) of the Month

tc-rookie-card.jpgI was planning on giving away the 2007 Bowman Chrome Tim Lincecum rookie card for this month’s free baseball card.  I ordered it from eBay at the very beginning of this month.  So far, no card.  If this card doesn’t arrive for whatever reason, I will pick a new card to give away.   But let’s plan on it being this card for now.   The Beckett book value on this card is $10 in mint condition as of the March 2008 issue.

What did Tim Lincecum do last year to earn this rookie card value?  150 Ks in 146.3 innings pitched for one thing.  He also had a winning record of 7-5.  His ERA was decent at 4.00, especially for a rookie.  Look for Lincecum to improve on that number this year.

Lincecum has been working on a new slider this year according to MLB.com.  Although he was roughed up in a recent start giving up four runs, while striking out four batters, in two innings, it is just Spring Training.  That’s what this time of year is for, working out the kinks.

Just in case you’re wondering though, prior to this coming Monday’s start against the Colorado Rockies, Lincecum has had three Spring Training starts, pitching seven innings, giving up seven runs, while striking out eight.
