Another position stacked with Hall of Famers, all with their own share of stupendous baseball cards. Some of the players enshrined in Cooperstown who were considered here are Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Roberto Clemente, Reggie Jackson and King Kelly.
In the end, it was the most famous, and best, baseball player ever. Babe Ruth. Which card? Well his 1933 Goudey cards are iconic. I selected card number 53 of the Babe from the 1933 Goudey Gum set.
Oddly enough, you see no mention of the New York Yankees on the front of this card. The only indication that Ruth is a Yankee are the pinstripes and the blue slouch hat (although you don’t see the interlocked NY on the baseball cap).
It’s a classic pose of Ruth’s left handed swing in a follow through position toward the latter part of his illustrious career. You’ll see this card every once in a while in an online auction. Don’t expect to see it sell for less than four figures.
