Well, there’s an update. As detailed in the article on SI’s website, the young baseball phenom will look to get his G.E. D. and enter a community college in the fall. That would mean that he’d be eligible for the draft as soon as 2010.
If Harper is drafted in 2010, and proves hit baseball mettle quickly at the professional level, he won’t be as young as some say Fred Chapman was as a pro player, or as Joe Nuxhall was, but he will certainly be one of the youngest ever, and you will be seeing his baseball cards hit the market with quite a high value.
