2009 Topps Heritage Baseball

You’ll be able to pick up a hobby box of 2009 Topps Heritage Baseball in your favorite hobby stores beginning this month.  A hobby box of Heritage baseball this year is currently priced at about $85.  This year, Topps will be using it’s 1960 throwback design for the Heritage cards.  The horizontal alignment of the card and the action pose photo plus the portrait are pretty cool.  The alternating colors in the players name is a nice touch too.  The design of these base cards would rival many of today’s card designs. Here is what the original 1960 Topps base card looked like.  (Showing the Mick of course.)  mantle-60.jpg

And here’s a look at some of the cards from the 2009 Topps Heritage set.  kershaw.jpgpujols.jpgbruce.jpg All in all it looks like a really nice set.  You’ll find at least one autographed card or relic card in each hobby box.  The cool thing with the autographed cards is that the autographs are on-card.  That’s a big plus for a hardcore collector.  As a boxloader this year, you’ll also find an original 1960 Topps baseball card inserted at a rate of one in every two hobby boxes.  How cool would it be to pull a Mickey Mantle 1960 Topps original card out of one of this year’s Heritage boxes?!   So what do you think of the 2009 Topps Heritage release?  Do you like the on-card autographs?  What about the 1960 Topps original design?  Let us know your thoughts.
