2009 Allen and Ginter

The 2009 Allen and Ginter baseball card set will release at the beginning of July.  A favorite of almost all baseball card collectors over the past few years, Topps’ A&G product will continue to keep the hobby buzzing.

In each hobby box, you’ll find three combinations of the following baseball card types:  Rip Card, Autographed Card, Relic Card, Cut Signature or a Printing Plate.  Topps doesn’t state which combinations you’ll get, or if you’re guaranteed any one of these particular baseball card types.

Hobby boxes of 2009 Allen and Ginter are currently in pre-sell and you can find them for about $85 or $90.   Each box will have 24 packs with eight cards per pack.

In addition to the popular DNA Allen and Ginter cards (this year you can find Geronimo or Napoleon DNA cards), you’ll also find the biggest Hoaxes, Hoodwinks and Bamboozles theme cards this year.  (Are hoodwinks and bamboozles real words?)

I like the look of the A&G cards this year, with the base cards having cool backgrounds like the one on this Alex Rodriguez card.

The design of these cards is interesting, and if you’d like to know more about where they came from check out this baseball card blog post

If you’re into busting baseball card boxes, in particular hobby boxes, this is one of the year’s best releases for you.  You never know what’s going to show up in a box of Allen and Ginter.  If you want an idea of what you might find, check out the checklists in this post

I’m still getting through posting my 2008 Allen and Ginter box break, pack-by-pack (think I like to savor my cards a bit?), but soon on the heels of that, I’ll be picking me up some 2009 fresh A&G.

What do you think of this year’s Allen and Ginter release?  Will you be picking some up as soon as it’s available?
