2008 Sweet Spot Baseball will be available for collectors in late November towards the end of the year. In addition to the traditional ball cover stitching on the auto cards, you’ll now see some new variations. Gold and Silver stitches will be included in the 2008 version. The glove leather and bat barrel cards will also have some novelties.
Here’s what you need to know:
- A hobby box will cost about $100
- 8 cards per tin
- 6 tins per box
- 1 on card rookie auto per box
- 4 memorablilia cards per box
- 1 Sweet Spot signature card per box
As far as inserts go, some Sweet Spot signature cards will be limited to 350 prints, which should provide some nice value for investors.
This is one of the nicer sets put out by Upper Deck. If you are just getting into baseball card collecting, or getting back into collecting, and can afford a little bit higher priced boxes than your traditional releases by Topps and Upper Deck, this would be a good set to start putting together.
You don’t get a ton of cards in one box, 48 in all, but for $100 you do get some nice value in the amount of auto and memorabilia cards, plus a nice base set of cards. The addition of one on card rookie auto gives us another distinctive reason to collect this Upper Deck release.

Just bought a single-pack ($17.50) of these cards, pulled a Hong Kuo serial-numbed Sweet Spot Signature (#’ed to 300). For me, it doesn’t get much better, in terms of value, than this set, the auto and memorabilia cards are beautiful and…well…plentiful.
Cool, nice pull. Yeah, Sweet Spot is one of the best products out there right now.
