A 1933 Babe Ruth Goudey baseball card, # 181, graded PSA 8, recently went up for bid on eBay. There have been plenty of these cards, graded PSA 1 through 4, which have gone up for sale. These cards, depending on their condition, have gone for a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Beckett Baseball lists this card in the $3,500 to $5,000 range.
This recent card, in outstanding condition as you can imagine from it’s PSA 8 grade, went for quite a sum of money. How about $21,985? Yeah, it recently sold for $21,985 on eBay. The reason that Beckett Baseball lists this card in the $3,500 to $5,000 range, while this particular card went for much more, is probably because you just don’t see this card in a PSA 8 condition often. Beckett’s listings are for the high and low ranges you will commonly see a card in it’s current retail selling ranges.
The fact that this card just went for such a sum of money is a positive sign for the state of the baseball card collecting hobby. Nice to see such high quality cards in high demand.
